Our Reading Buddies program runs every Tuesday for 7 weeks at Waverley Library starting April 16th, connecting kids from grades 1 - 3 with community members who want to help them practice their reading. Two one-hour sessions are held each week, and volunteers are welcome to participate in one or both sessions.
- For the safety of participating kids, all volunteers are required to get a Level 2 Criminal Record and Judicial Matters Check (CRJMC) unless one has been completed in the last six months
- Volunteers 18 and under do not require a CRJMC.
- Volunteer hours can be earned in this program!
- The application form requires a reference.
- Volunteers must be available on Tuesday at their preferred time for 7 consecutive weeks starting on April 16th. Once we pair up a volunteer with a child, it's very important to remain consistent in order to get the full benefits of the program. Volunteers are committing to participating every week in the 7-week session. If their buddy happens to be away, then volunteers are expected to read with another child for that week.
- A volunteer orientation will be held at Waverley Library on April 9th @ 6:30 pm.
