Gallant is by V. E. Schwab and it mainly follows a girl named Olivia. Olivia grew up at Merliance School for Girls. Olivia never knew her parents and the only thing she has left of them is her mother's journal. As this journal goes on, it starts to get weirder and weirder. One day Olivia receives a letter from her uncle inviting her to a place called Gallant. Not long after receiving the letter, Olivia makes her way to Gallant. After she arrives at Gallant is when she realizes that no one was expecting her, and her cousin Matthew makes it very clear that she is not welcome there. Olivia is aware that there are secrets. She just doesn’t know what, but she is determined to uncover them.
This book is probably one of my favourite books. I really enjoyed how the book was written, and how it progressed as it went on. Personally I liked how she portrays the characters in this book. V. E. Schwab was really able to make all of the characters of this book quite interesting. V. E. Schwab was able to hook me into reading this book easily. I would definitely recommend this book to anyone who enjoys horror novels, gothic novels, and fantasy novels. One thing I wished was that it showed and included more of was the villain. Plot-wise I thoroughly enjoyed it and how the story progressed as it went on. This book overall was an easy read. When I finished reading this it felt like my heart shattered. I also feel like the ending of this book was unexpected.
